Let's Get Down to Business

Let's Get Down to Business

To defeat disorganization.

I finally hung shelving and peg boards in my studio and office. I also hung up some artwork to bring some color into my work space. The goal, obviously, is create a space I want to spend time and create jewelry in. To achieve this, I know I need organization! Now I have my hand tools within arms reach and my work space cleared. I am “killing two birds with one stone”!

Computer Work

Being a one woman business means you have to do the work that you do not want to do but has to be done.

I am in the middle of a 14-day trial of a social media planner app. I am trying to find a program that will keep my social media posts organized and planned. This way I can focus on my attention on actually “making” the jewelry. Using this app, it would help me stay on top of my social media, plan content and publish it at the ideal time. Being consistent is the key to social media, so my hope with using this program it will help me do just that.

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen on my stories last week that my “Shop” is coming soon! It is exciting to be so close. Meta/Facebook does not make it easy for small businesses that is for sure! Thankfully, I have a knowledgeable support system that is extremely helpful. Now, I am in the process of creating a catalog to import into Meta. Cross your fingers- I will have a new shop on Instagram in the coming weeks!

Jewelry Releases

The past two Friday's I have released a bunch of new work. This Friday will be my last mini Spring release. Heads up- I hope you love the combination of gemstones/inlay and pearls. See you Friday!

What I am currently reading?

book covers of Books I am Reading

Stoned: Jewelry, Obsession, and How Desire Shapes the World by Aja Raden

I belong to a local Metalsmithing group, Allegheny Metals Collective, and we have started a book club. I am rereading this book for our meeting in a month. Ever wonder what diamond engagement rings have to do with the G.I. Bill? Or how the French Revolution started over a desired necklace? If you are curious about these questions, I highly suggest this as your next read!

Collecting Antique Jewellery by Mona Curran

This past weekend I was at a local antique mall and found this book for $10, hard bound and in great shape. It was published in 1969 and man do I love the smell of an old book. Weird, I know. I have skimmed the book and I look forward to reading more about the jewelry from the Georgian through the Edwardian period. Maybe I might even get some new “Tips” for future blogs to share!

Tip #3

Check out the updated Material Glossary on my website.

https://rachaelmorganjewelry.com/pages/material-glossary

All the featured gemstones in previous pieces are listed. This glossary tells you how to store and clean your specific gemstone jewelry. I highly recommend everyone, RMJ customer or not, to know as much as you can about your gemstone jewelry. It will save your jewelry from damage and your wallet from paying for repairs!

This month’s intended blog content needed to be pushed back one more month. Please stay tuned because you won’t want to miss out!
